James Carey, who produces under the name VSPR, is a UK based music producer and the studio manager at Odeholm Audio.
Known for his versatility across genres, James plays a key role in helping shape the production process at Odeholm Audio, working closely with Buster Odeholm to deliver high-quality sound across a wide range of projects.
James has worked with a diverse range of artists, including bands like Allt, Beyond Awareness,Humanity’s Last Breath (DOTA2 Music Kit), Dead By April, Soreption, Everture, Frontieres, and Lastout. His work extends beyond metal, working with artists such as Saliou, D12, RiFF RAFF, Edem, Haiyti, Shaggy 2 Dope, Arnel Pineda.
With experience that bridges the creative and business sides of music, James developed his craft as a graduate of Leeds Conservatoire, an intern of Pontus Hjelm and Fredrik Nordström, alongside roles as a tour manager for major label artists and a consultant for licensing projects with Amon Tobin, Scarlxrd, and Iron Maiden. This unique background informs his forward-thinking approach to production, blending technical precision with innovation to stay ahead of evolving trends.
